Not quite France and not Italy either, a bike trip in Corsica is a unique biking experience between mountain, sea and cultural particularities. Get ready to be amazed by the breathtaking cliffs plunging into the Mediterranean, its golden beaches and high mountains, the villages hung on the side of the cliffs, riding the gorges carved in stone, the hills lined with chestnut and olive trees: Corsica is well and truly an “island of beauty” and a cycling paradise. Further south, amazing granite sculptures overlook the Gulf of Porto: these are the Calanche de Piana, with its formidable chaotic decor. You will not get tired of the spectacle of the landscapes until the southern end of the island, where Bonifacio seems to be standing in balance on high cliffs of white limestone.
We will meet you at the Bastia airport at a predetermined time before transferring you to your hotel in Erbalunga. In the afternoon we will take the opportunity to introduce you to the program, adjust your bike and explore the beauty of the Corsican coast. This small marine aligns its old houses on a green schist peninsula topped by an old Genoese tower that is half ruined. Enjoy the pleasure of strolling around the port in the narrow stairways, shaded by plane trees, laurels and palm trees, and in the flowered squares.

Today, for your first ride in Corsica, you will start from Erbalunga on a very beautiful hilly road along the coast that will take you around Cap Corse to Saint-Florent. A beautifully traced route between the sea and the mountains allows you to discover sandy or pebble beaches, steep villages with their ancient terraced crops, and navies nestled in the embankments of the coast. At the hollow of a very beautiful gulf to which it has given its name, Saint-Florent is built on a slight height north of the mouth of the Aliso river. Stroll through the old town through winding alleys lined with old houses and flower-filled oleander plots.

Balagne region contemplates the Mediterranean from its balcony of fertile hills and its coastline with its sandy bays. Beautiful villages dot the landscapes of this pleasant region, a land of coconut trees, orchards, vineyards and olive trees. Beyond the first reliefs, Balagne becomes wild and unknown, and offers unforgettable panoramas. Proudly set on its bright harbour in a setting of often snow-covered mountains, Calvi is one of the most beautiful marine sites on the island.

This morning we ride towards Piana along hilly and then rolling mountainous seaside panoramic roads. Flying over the Mediterranean, we then reach beautiful Porto and Calanques de Piana where we will stay for the night. Dominating the Golf de Porto, there are astonishing granite sculptures formed by erosion. From this chaotic landscape emerges a strange and unique beauty. The intense blue of the sea, the often unreal light that bathes the coast, the palette of oranges and roses of granite and the vigorous relief make it an exceptional site.

Once at the top, we ride downhill through Scala di Santa Regina gorges. which are one of the most famous and wildest on the island. The road, cut in places in the rock face, dominates the gorges. The arid and tormented landscape offers a grandiose physiognomy. Corte played a fundamental historical role and remains today the Corsican capital of heart. You will love to linger in the old town with its steep, cobbled streets dominated by the citadel.
