The Dordogne, for a long time called Périgord, offers everything that lovers of heritage, history and gastronomy can hope for the best. Here the villages of character and the cities of art and history like La Roque-Gageac or Sarlat-la-Canéda take you back in time. The markets abound with local and seasonal products: truffles, foie gras, walnuts, ceps. The Middle Ages and the Hundred Years’ War have left the region an exceptional built heritage, the perched castles of Castelnaud-la-Chapelle or Beynac-et-Cazenac will make you take the height. Below the surface, plunge into prehistory, in the footsteps of the first men by discovering the Lascaux cave and the exceptional graphic heritage left by Cro-Magnon. Located in the neighboring department of the Lot, the medieval city of Rocamadour, both a holy place that has attracted pilgrims since the 12th century and a spectacularly perched natural site, will complete your adventure between cliffs, dense forests and winding valleys.
We will meet you at the Toulouse airport at a predetermined time before transferring you to your hotel in Montignac. In the afternoon we will take the opportunity to introduce you to the program and adjust your bike and explore the surroundings.

Parietal art has made the Valley of Man a unique place to discover, here 25 ornate caves are classified as UNESCO WHS. The cave of Lascaux offers hunting scenes including a hundred animal figures. The original cave was discovered in 1940 and closed to the public since 1963 in order to be preserved. Opened in 2016, the integral replica cave allows you to discover identical paintings and other engravings made by Cro-Magnon Man. The path continues along the Vézère river to the village of Les Eyzies and its cave houses, then to the medieval city of Sarlat-la-Canéda.

As for them, the Hanging Gardens of Marqueyssac laid out on a rocky spur dominates the Dordogne valley. These romantic and picturesque gardens are home to 150,000 centuries-old hand-hewn box trees.

A few kilometers after leaving Sarlat, you enter the Lot department, here the causses (plateaus) are punctuated by deep valleys. One of the most emblematic villages, Rocamadour is both a holy place that has attracted pilgrims since the 12th century, and a spectacular natural site perched above gorges. From bottom to top, you will discover the medieval town and its shopping street, the 12th and 13th century sanctuaries sheltering the Black Virgin, considered miraculous, and finally the castle and its ramparts, topping the whole. Not forgetting the delicate flavor of the cheese to which it gave its name.
